Background
In recent years, Germany has shown increasing leadership in the field of global health. Germany was instrumental in putting health on the agenda of the G7 and continued its commitment by ensuring health was a priority during its G20 presidency. Ahead of its upcoming Presidency of the EU Council in 2020, the German Federal Government will launch a new global health strategy which will further shape its leadership in the area. Reflecting this increasing leadership in global health, interest in public and global health is growing among German policy makers, researchers and research funders. The Global Health Lecture Series was conceived by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Charité Global Health as part of efforts to actively inform and engage with global health research and policy processes in Germany.
Aims of the lecture series
The Lecture Series aims to generate dialogue between researchers and policy makers from different contexts, to showcase the interdisciplinarity in approaches to global health issues and to foster new partnerships in research and learning.

The Series will consist of six lectures, focusing on one global health issue at a time. The following will be explored in 2020:
•Pandemic preparedness
•Digital health
